Whilst Paris Fashion Week was in mid -flow, much closer to home, the city of Norwich was able to offer something equally appealing to the fashionistas in the area by hosting its own Fashion Week, which proved to be a very successful venture. The week offered a range of catwalk shows including the Designer Show and Vintage Show. There was also the opportunity to get tips and hints from stylists and make-up artists in the area as to what would be the key looks this coming season.
I was fortunate enough to be given all-area access for one of the shows courtesy of Wex Photography who gave me the opportunity to follow and get advice from the well-regarded photographer Paul Blayfield (Time Sniper Photography) whose previous shoots have included big names such as Vivienne Westwood and Victoria Secrets amongst many others. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, mingling with the models and getting up close and personal with the clothes that were going to grace the runway later on that day. Most importantly though I received some fantastic tips and advice from Paul as to how to improve my photography skills in shooting fashion shows, back stage and posed shots. Hopefully I can now put what I learnt from the day into practice and create some high- quality images!
Below is a selection of some of the photos I took on the day of the Vintage show, I particularly liked some of the contrasts I managed to get due to the lighting within the show. It was a rather unusual setting in that the catwalk took place at Norwich Puppet Theatre which meant we were not dealing with a traditional runway setting but it was good to deal with the challenge.
Hope you enjoy the photos.
